Form Deck
Form deck, otherwise known as non-composite floor deck, is used for floor applications in buildings and serves as both a working platform and stay-in-place form for the wet concrete. It does not have embossments so it does not act compositely with the concrete. It is often used for lighter applications where wire mesh serves as the tensile reinforcement. However, it is also used for applications of dynamic loading or very thick slabs where the designer wants rebar to be used for slab reinforcement rather than rely on composite action between the deck and concrete. Common gage for form deck range from 28 thru 16 gage.
