Detailing metal deck is a very specialized process. Typically only steel deck detailers are intimately familiar with the SDI requirements and special conditions required to coordinate and provide an error-free project with no field problems. The designs are not always clear and many times the gray areas lead to delays, RFIs, and field issues. We will explain the basics of metal deck placement and coordination and discuss the flow of information and help identify the common pitfalls associated with steel deck.

Presenting the best practices for detailing steel joist and joist girders, highlighing practical guidelines for optimizing the detailing process, reducing RFIs and maximizing coordination efforts, thus supporting the ultimate goal of a successful project. often not familiar with the SJI code, coordination responsibility is unclear and even more so with the increase of using detailers unfamiliar with standard industry practice.
